Once upon a time there was a little pirate.
Courageous, dreamy and wild.
She played in the big forest with her older brothers hide and seek.
She often got lost while roaming around,
but she knew better than to be afraid.
She could hear her inner voice whispering:
‘You can’t get lost, in a world where you belong.’
This wisdom became her rewilding song.

The years flew by, and the little pirate observed,
how strange and absurd many adults behaved:
Hiding their feelings and not telling the truth.
Would she also forget about true wisdom and magic,
when she passed youth?

She was told that she could not become a pirate,
sharing her gold with the world,
instead she should be nice rather than kind,
polite instead of honest.
If only she could be more modest,
so that she would appear with more grace
and take up less space,
then she would finally get along better.
‘And for God’s sake, child, please stop singing that rewilding song!’

The little pirate felt despair, frustration and anger.
She still knew that she belonged to this world,
but with every year that passed, she felt stranger and stranger.
She tried very hard to do what she was told,
but deep down she knew that she would always be gold.
Most of the adults around her were frozen like ice,
‘Why did they stop singing their rewilding songs?’

‘Maybe it’s up to me to bring back some magic,
so that their lives become more enchanted than tragic,
and all people can feel how much they are loved and
that they too belong, so that their light sparkles again,
as they rediscover how to play
and rest and nourish their souls
while they completely forget about external goals.’

The adult pirate pours her gold into all stories she weaves,
she paints with light in films and photos.
Remembering and sharing her rewilding song.
Step by step the pirate dreams her whole life into being.
Up to now all of her work tells a story of freeing.

The pirate has become a wild sorceress guided by joy.
She talks to animals, plants and trees and
spreads her gold wherever she goes.

And that, my friend, is my quest for you this time:
If the pirate has ever brought glimmers of hope to your heart:

Will you let her know this Christmas how you felt through her art?

Let me know!
